
Cycling keeps you on the right track

We were given the opportunity to design the visual identity and marketing campaign for the city of Helsinki. We were to promote the improvement of train stations to better accommodate cycling as a form of commuting by creating bike parks with public transport connections.
“There are almost 70 train stations in the metropolitan area, located 5 to 15 minutes from your front door.”
By switching from simply cycling to a combination of cycling and trains, you hit two birds with one stone: increase your daily exercise and lower your carbon footprint. You’ll probably also save money when you don’t pay for gas or parking fees. To make cycling easier, the city of Helsinki brings bicycle parks and frame-lockable racks to train stations.
We came up with creative headlines that were used alongside illustrations in both online and offline marketing. The tone of voice was encouraging and playful, that naturally translated into movement in the motion graphics. We carefully placed road signs along the cycling routes that lead to the train station, reminding one of the possibility of changing into a train to finish your journey. The Oulunkylä train station was the first station to do so.

By combining cycling with train travel, commuters can boost daily exercise, reduce their carbon footprint, and save on gas and parking. To support this, Helsinki introduced bike parks and frame-lockable racks at train stations, starting with Oulunkylä.
Our campaign featured playful headlines and illustrations across digital and print, with motion graphics enhancing engagement. Road signs along cycling routes reminded riders of the train connection option. The campaign is set to expand to more stations and Espoo.
I animated the illustrated characters and produced all final video and print materials.
